Summary:
The following guidelines are provided by our clinical team. Snippets that do not
follow these guidelines may be flagged as a code of conduct violation which will
require remediation with our team to continue on the platform.
Guidelines for Snippet Usage:
- Copy-pasting statements without personalizing them to the patient’s case
should be avoided. While templated statements (“snippets”) can be useful,
they should not replace a comprehensive and tailored response. - A strong specialist response should begin with a concise summary of the
patient’s presenting information. Snippets may be used in the
recommendations and educational sections as long as they are clearly
applicable to the patient. PCPs should be able to easily identify the answer
to their clinical question. - The clinical affairs team will review snippet utilization on a case-by-case
basis. If snippets are found to be appropriately personalized, they will not be
flagged as an issue. However, excessive use of nonpersonalized snippets
may be categorized as a Moderate Infraction and recorded in the Specialist’s
Infraction Report per the code of conduct.
Misc.
Snippets for statements of liability are not necessary. Every eConsult response
has a legal disclaimer added to the PCP view that explains the limitations and scope
of an eConsult. On top of that, our BAA, user terms and conditions, and malpractice
provides extensive coverage. There is no added coverage from a snippet and often
just causes PCP frustration by creating a lengthier response.
